The Weather Cast Network will be forming the first of several regional storm chase teams starting with it's North Texas Team to begin forming on May 7, 2008.  The team will consist of volunteers willing to follow storms and provide online analysis on the ground in live chat sessions, as well as live streaming video of the chase.

WCN will be working with several resources to bring chase materials, magnetic signage, and other identifyers for all chase team members.

This team is volunteer based, and all members will be responsible for thier personal costs involved in the activities of the team.  All members must have attended the NWS/Skywarn Basic and Advanced Spotter training, and provide documentation of thier attendance and completion of the course.

Members who have attended the Skywarn "Super" Storm Spotter training, will be designated as chase team leaders and will be in charge of planning and direction of each team spotter.

Although being a HAM operator is not required, it is recommended.  Each chase vehicle will be required to have a minimum of 2 chase team members, 1 laptop, and wireless internet access at a mimimum in order to facilitate live communications with the WCN Weather Center.

If you are interested in joining the WCN Storm Chaser Team, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it with your information and someone will be in touch with you.
